Mercutio Marchege ( マキューシオ・マルシェージュ , Makyūshio Marushēju ) was Romeo's friend and kinsman to the grand duke's family.

Character[]

Mercutio is an arrogant and selfish boy who is always looking for power. In one of the episodes, after

Romeo is banished, Mercutio is adopted by the prince and made heir to the crown after Lord Montague brutally murders his birth father, Titus. This however left him in a state of fear, that eventually caused him to become mentally unhinged. Later, during the Capulet rebellion, he is appointed leader of the Carabinieri by Lord Montague for a short time. When Tybalt, Romeo, Juliet, and the others breach the palace and storm the throne room to arrest the prince, Mercutio, confused over his lust for power and sad over the loss of his birth father, stabs Lord Montague from behind with a poison dagger. Montague falls and Mercutio is seen leaving the palace laughing insanely.

-Mercutio is a kind and mischievous boy who is always seen playing pranks on Capulet's men, in order to help Juliet, aka, The Blue Gale, get out of trouble. He has a bit of a rivalry with Tybalt, often challenging him in duels and always coming out on top. He didn't like Benvolio at first, calling him a wimp, but when Benvolio saved him from death in episode 9, he grew fond of him. He cares greatly for his friends, even to the point of masquerading as The Blue Gale in order to save Juliet's life. In episode 20, after Lord Montague is killed, Juliet is about to be executed, but Mercutio arrives, disguised as The Blue Gale and recomedsds that Juliet be banished instead of killed. Before he leaves he casts a sly wink at Juliet, who smiles, even when she's taken away. [[File:Mercutio1.jpg|thumb|left]]After Juliet is banished, Mercutio is found out and captured by Tybalt and challenged to a duel. After a long struggle, Mercutio knocks out Tybalt and frees Benvoilo. Later, during the Montague rebellion, he is appointed second-in-command by Lady Montague for a short time. When he, Benvolio and Juliet,  breach the palace and storm the throne room to arrest the the king. Tybalt, confused over his lust for power and angered over Romeo's betrayal, shoots Lady Capulet from behind with a poison-filled arrow. Romeo collapses in tears and Tybalt is seen committing suicide by throwing himself off the balcony, laughing insanely. In the series finale, Mercutio is shown playing with Romeo and Juilet's children, who call him "Uncle Mercy."
